EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
•Graduates of this two-year program are qualified to work in a variety of settings with young children. Students are introduced to both the theory and practice of Early Childhood Education.
•Areas of study include: child development, child guidance and research, curriculum development, foundations of play, child assessment, children with special needs, school-age programs, parent education, diversity, current issues in Early Childhood Education, community networking, and communication skills, psychology, sociology and philosophy.
•This program includes classroom study and 600+ hours of practical experience in settings which include infants and children up to age twelve. All students enjoy six placements including at least one in our own Early Childhood Education Centre.
SOCIAL SERVICE WORKER
•This two-year program is designed to prepare students for casework and counseling positions in the broad social welfare community.
•The core curriculum concentrates on helping the student develop skills in interpersonal relations and communication.
•The Social Service Worker program emphasizes the development of extensive skills in all areas of individual and group casework. Forty weeks of field work experience, earned over two years, with community-based organizations is an essential part of the program.
CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER
•This three-year diploma program prepares students to work in organizations and institutions concerned with the needs and problems of troubled children and adolescents.
•The curriculum includes a minimum of 1,500 hours of field placement, as well as courses in developmental and abnormal psychology, child and youth management, activity programming, counseling theory and practice, health and nutrition, group and family work, and computers.
PARAMEDIC
•This program offers challenging career opportunities in a variety of practice settings. Paramedics could find employment in emergency care services, health facilities, health care and related agencies.
•Following successful completion of the paramedic program, graduates are eligible to write Ontario Ministry of Health’s Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant Certification.
Other Programs Include:
Esthetician, Fire Science technology, and Police Foundations.
