Graduates from Fanshawe’s manufacturing and mechanical programs are in demand by employers offering a wide range of well-paying and interesting careers. After all, it is the manufacturing industry that drives the world, producing industrial and consumer goods from planes, trains and automobiles to carpets, clothes and computers.

One excellent starting point to a career in this dynamic industry is our three-year diploma program Manufacturing Engineering Technology. This program gives you not only the technical skills needed to work in a manufacturing environment, but also teaches you about the business of production. It includes four paid work terms in industry, each four months in duration. Through in-class training and practical assignments, you’ll learn to work from product design drawings and learn how to develop and implement a production process and to apply manufacturing and quality control standards. On the business side, you will learn essential skills such as accounting, production cost estimating, statistical analysis, operations, resource management and customer service.

Fanshawe offers nine additional programs within this division that include a variety of one-year certificate, two-year diploma, and three-year diploma programs. For example, you may wish to specialize in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Mobile Equipment). We offer this training in a three-year program that includes five paid work term placements in industry. If your interest is more on the design side of the sector, you may want to consider taking Mechanical Engineering Technician (Design Major). Because this is a technician program, it is only two-years in duration, but also offers three paid work terms as part of the program.
