Choose a study pathway

Start with the qualification and skills you want to gain. Compare the subject, teaching language, delivery format and location before choosing an institution.

University, college, vocational, secondary and language programs serve different goals. A familiar school name does not establish whether a particular campus or program fits your project.

  1. Write down your goal
  2. Compare at least three programs
  3. Check the institution’s own admission pages

English Language Training
Historical record

The original text is preserved below.

The English Language Institute is designed for international students who do not meet the English language requirements for direct entry into full-time programs at a Canadian college. The intensive English language experience prepares students for the classroom with college entry-level proficiency in English. It also gives students a preliminary understanding of Canadian teaching and learning methods. The main focus of the English Language Institute is on communicative grammar, communication strategies, pronunciation, listening strategies, conversation, academic reading and writing skills. The English Language Institute consist of eight modules. Each module lasts approximately seven weeks. Depending on the results of evaluation and testing, students will be placed in one of these modules. Successful completion of module eight entitles the student to a Certificate of Standing in English Language Proficiency. This certificate is recognized by Seneca College as being equivalent to a 550 TOEFL score and provides direct access into post-secondary programs at Seneca without further English testing.
