English as a Second Language

English as a Second Language VCC offers seven levels of ESL instruction ranging from beginners to advanced. Each level is 7.5 weeks long and classes are 20 hours each week. Start dates are in January, March, May, July, September and November. The English for College and University program has three 15 week-long levels. Completion of this program will ensure that your English skills will allow you to take university level programs. Your placement in either of these two programs will depend upon the results of your English assessment that will be given when you arrive. Cost is approximately $690US per month.
English for Business and International Tourism

English for Business and International Tourism These courses focus on topics relating to business (entrepreneurship, marketing, business ethics and international business) and international tourism (travel agencies, tour operations, hotel operations and tourism information centers). Each course is 7.5 weeks long, takes place at the same dates as the ESL program and has the same tuition fee.

Music Diploma News! A four year Applied Bachelor’s Degree will be available soon This two-year university transfer program provides professional training for potential and practicing musicians as well as instruction for performance-orientated students. Specialties include Instrumental Studies, Composition, Composition/Arranging, Classical Voice, Keyboard Studies, and Jazz and Contemporary Instrumental Music. Requirements include an audition (overseas students may submit a videotape) and a musicianship exam. Cost is approximately $165US per credit.
Hospitality Management Diploma

Hospitality Management Diploma News! A four-year Applied Bachelor’s Degree will be available soon. This 2-year university transfer program features general business and hospitality management, human resources, marketing, tour operations, labour relations, accounting and economics courses as well as a hotel simulation course. A 500-hour work practicum is required and students with a suitable grade point average have the opportunity to enter third and fourth year degree programs either at VCC or at a number of universities in North America. Cost is approximately $2890US per 4-month term (four terms in two years). Students can work in the industry during the course of the program as well as for one year following graduation. Some experience in the industry is required for admission.

Career Programs Leading Directly to Jobs VCC has a number of short-term programs that prepare you for the working world. For example, you may take our 10 month long Teaching English as a Second Language Program which requires an undergraduate degree for entry or may choose our 4 week long Teaching English as a Foreign Language which does not require a university degree.
