The University of British Columbia (1908), one of Canada’s leading universities with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research, attracts award-winning faculty and outstanding students from around the world. Students choose UBC for its innovative and interdisciplinary programs, and the portability of a first-class degree from an internationally recognized university. Located in the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver on Canada’s spectacular Pacific coast, UBC students have access to numerous outdoor activities year-round at nearby beaches, parks, and world-class ski resorts.
Undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programs include business, engineering, social sciences and humanities, education, life and physical sciences, earth and ocean sciences, agricultural sciences, forestry, and more. Students can choose from hundreds of majors, double majors, minors, specializations and honours options to customize their degree. English is the language of instruction at UBC.
Students at the University can also enrich their academic experience by participating in co-op (work and learn) programs and by spending a term or two studying abroad at any one of 150 partner universities in 40 countries. UBC’s vibrant student life, including more than 200 student-run clubs, a large intramural sports program, and outstanding varsity athletics programs, provide opportunities for social, cultural, and leadership experiences outside the classroom. UBC’s comfortable and affordable student residences are home to more than 5,500 students.
The University welcomes applications from both secondary school students and from students applying from recognized colleges and universities, who demonstrate superior academic ability.
