Source publication : 2026-10-14 · Memorial University

Farzana Rahman, who earned a BSc in computer science and engineering in Bangladesh, completed a course‑based Master of Data Science at Memorial University and interned at the Centre for Analytics, Informatics and Research (CAIR), delivering client‑facing software including a web portal and predictive component for the Port of Argentia.

Rahman joined Memorial after a BSc from North South University (Dhaka). In her second semester she took a software developer internship at CAIR, supervised by PhD student Syed Faruk and associate director Jacqueline French. She built an end‑to‑end ship‑docking planning system for the Port of Argentia — web portal, data storage, automated conflict alerts and a machine‑learning module predicting vessel overstay — and developed document‑to‑spreadsheet tools for Research Initiatives and Services. Her convocation is scheduled for Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.
