The YMCA International College is one of the first ESL schools in Vancouver. It was established in 1978 and is part of the international YMCA organization. The College has two campuses in Vancouver - Alberni Street and Burrard Street. The College has the reputation for high quality at very reasonable prices and is excellent value for international students. Thanks to quotas set for each nationality, there is a healthy mix of students from many countries, and a strict English-only policy in the school. Students are encouraged to meet Canadians through the YMCA network and activites, and to volunteer time in the community.

Located at our Burrard camous, this programs offers Speaking, Listening, Grammar, Reading and Writing 20 hours a week. There are 4 levels, from Upper Beginner to Advanced. Each level generally takes 8 weeks, but ther is a test every 4 weeks forfaster-learning students to advance more rapidly.

General English - Integrated Skills (Speaking, Listening, Grammar, Reading Writing) in the mornings with elective classes in the afternoon e.g. Debate and Discussion, Popular Culture, Conversation. 24 hours a week. 8 levels from Beginer to Advanced. Level test every 4 weeks to see if you can go up a level. Curriculum designed for one level to take 8 weeks.

Program for ages 7 - 15 years at YMCA CAmp Elphinstone, one hour from Vancouver on the ocean. ESL classes 15 hours a week + camp activites and games with Canadian children of the same age. Accommodation in camp huts with three meals + snacks a day. Limited enrollment of international students to maintain the Canadian content and experience. Available July 13 to August 30, 2003 and every summer.
